Oh, where to begin with Steve.
We always had so much fun with him in
youth at Peace Chapel. I would have to say some of my fondest memories
come from his nickname that we ( the Briand and Wootton girls and I)
gave him. The Cheat! It never failed any game we played; he always
managed to cheat his way to the top.
He was the first person I ever
met that enjoyed listening to bagpipe music. I can't remember where we
had gone, but he was playing it in his car. I thought it was hilarious
that everyone else couldn't stand it. I believe we had convince him
(which probably didn't take much work) to have him play it during the
service (or event). The reactions were priceless.
Then of course,
he was our fearless Bible Quiz coach. He would get so frustrated with
me, because I would never hit the buzzer. I think it was our last
tournament, and he told me my goal was just to hit the buzzer. He didn't
care if I just sat there and didn't answer just as long as I hit the
buzzer. I was so nervous but determined to hit it. We were up against a
team from James River who had a really good player. A question came up,
and I knew it! There was no doubt in my mind, so I was waiting to see if
anyone else knew it. I thought it was a pretty obvious answer, but no
one answered. The time was almost out. I hit the buzzer and answered it
correctly. Steve was so excited! I think I answer several more questions
that day. He couldn't believe that I waited till the last tournament to
start answering questions.
I and many others were so great full to
have Steve as a friend and youth leader. We missed him (and you too
Christina) when he left Peace Chapel, but we knew there were others that
needed to experience the awesomeness of Steve Patient.
Love
you guys!
